Spending time with children takes us back to our own childhoods. Watching them laugh and cry, we remember the feelings of joy and sorrow that we experienced when we were young. A perfect circle tries to capture those memories and feelings through poetry and photographic images. Each of the poetography pieces that comprise A Perfect Circle make the connection between childhood and adulthood, and how our memories as adults reflect imperfectly on our childhood. We remember the good times while trying to forget the bad. We see the children at play and think that everything was fun when we were young. So we do everything we can to make our children happy, so that when they grow up, they will have only good memories.

Like all my poetography series, A Perfect Circle comes from my own experiences, my own memories of childhood. The poems and photographs try to capture the spontaneity and joy of being young, of discovering new things every day, of exporing a world beyond comprehension. I try to recall the feelings of complete trust that I had when I was young for the adults who cared for me. I hope that these poetography pieces can help the viewers remember their own childhoods, and the simultaneous feelings of happiness and fear that they faced when they were young.
